New Narrated Videos: Architects on Their Sketchbooks

Sketch Atlas has just released six new videos featuring Belgian architects who open their sketchbooks and talk us through how they use drawing in their practice.
Each video is a personal story: a landscape filled with observations, travel sketchbooks full of quick impressions, detailed ballpoint drawings, live sketches that explain a building in real time, or pages that span a career from student work to professional practice.
For the first time, these conversations are also available in English. With the help of AI-assisted translation, we made it possible for a wider audience to follow the architects’ stories. The focus remains on the narrative voice — how architects explain their process and experiences as they flip through their sketchbooks.
Featured in this series:
Saidja Heynickx — a landscape sketchbook filled with observations and design ideas.
Jo Klaps — fast travel sketches that capture places and moments around the world.
Dhoore Vanweert — drawing live to explain the design and details of the ACB building.
Ludo Schouterden — sketching as a tool in designing private residences and communicating with clients.
Iwert Bernackiewicz — refined ballpoint sketches from a Japanese travel sketchbook.
Aarnoud De Rycker — sketchbooks that trace a journey from bachelor studies into professional practice.
